Mark Merry—A Golden Valley Mortgage Banker You Can Trust!
With 12 years’ experience as a Mortgage Banker, I completely understand the home buying process from start to close. I service Golden Valley and the greater Minneapolis area.
There is a beauty in Golden Valley that justifies the name of the place. According to local legend, the name derives from the experience of an early settler who climbed a large hill in the region and looked down on daffodils amidst the grass, commenting on "the golden valley" he now was heir to. Another account claims the name derives from the fields of wheat that once dotted the landscape. Either way, Golden Valley is an ideal place to live for people who appreciate beauty.
About Golden Valley
Found in Hennepin County, Minnesota, Golden Valley is a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis and is conveniently located five miles west of downtown. Featuring ample parks and nature areas, the city is known as one of the premiere places to live in the Twin Cities because of its diverse neighborhoods, excellent housing, flourishing business and award-winning schools.
Golden Valley's population of 20,281 is expected to grow just slightly in the next 20 years. Currently, the number of households in Golden Valley has increased to about 8,500 units. The housing market remains strong because of the City's excellent location and reputation for good schools, parks, and services. As a result, the housing stock is continually reinvigorated with infill development (demolition of existing housing for new housing) and upgrades to existing homes.
Golden Valley's proximity to downtown Minneapolis and its access to four major arterial roadways make it a prime commercial and industrial location. In fact, there are about 30,000 full-time jobs within the City--more per capita than any other City in the metropolitan area. Several major corporations base their operations out of Golden Valley, including General Mills, Tennant Co, Dahlberg Industries, United Healthcare, Honeywell, and CyberOptics. Service-related companies lead the commercial mix, followed by retail and manufacturing. While Golden Valley benefits from these amenities, 15% of the city (more than 1,035 acres) is devoted to parks and open space.
